❇✧ MAHOU SENSHI ✧❇

A Mahou Senshi - Magical Soldier - is an individual that has entered in to an agreement with a member of the Radiance, obtaining power in return for a promise to fight against the enemy Shadow. For the purposes of this section, we will be discussing the senshi that are new to this world - that is, you.

While it is unknown how the Radiance entered to your world, much less how they were able to bring you here and - in some cases - change you - the fact is, they don't seem to understand the concept of 'going home'. This is home, until the Shadow are defeated - which means that for better or worse, you're stuck here. And if you weren't before? You are now a human teenager.

Fear not, for if you were something else before, you may just find yourself echoing your true self when you power up through a transformation. Activated through the phrase, "Radiant Light of Change! Transform!", this transformation takes place in a heartbeat though it may seem to stretch on for minutes. Either way, to the bystander, an instant is all it takes for someone to become a warrior capable of fighting the Shadow...or, well. Whatever other reason they transformed. Your Radiant Partner will generally allow mergers at your will, though they do get tired; overuse of your abilities may result in you lacking them when you need them the most!

A transformation results in a new appearance, often echoing some ideal form. For those without a strong image of such - or of how they want to look - this often defaults to an elegant combat dress, similar to the previous senshi of this world. Over time, this appearance may even evolve as a senshi gains a stronger control over their powers. You are free to design whatever appearance you wish for your character, so long as it matches the general theme of the game. Please no Kamen-style outfits as-is; if you wanted to use them as inspiration for your design, though, that's all right! And if you're stuck on ideas, here's a few more for you!

Powerwise, the spectrum is broad and varied. All senshi gain speed, strength, and endurance boosts; some gain stronger variants thereof as well. Some are stronger than others, some boast very specialized abilities that seem useless, but turn out to be extremely useful in the right circumstance. Be creative! You can draw from your own canon or come up with something new, but the mods reserve the right to ask for revisions.


❇✧ ENHAI CITY ✧❇

Enhai is a large, bustling city not far from the coast. It's a multicultural hub of advancement and technology, boasting a top of the line monorail transportation system connecting its multiple districts to one another. One of its brightest jewels, however, is Enhai Preparatory Academy; a school for students 12-18 known throughout the globe for its excellence and quality.
Other jewels include its bustling street markets, its beautiful and historical parks, and Enhai Stadium, which once hosted the Olympics and is now used for various exhibitions and events. Go Yokai!

What the city doesn't know is that it's currently under siege; only the power of the Radiance keeps the common folk from knowing just how dire their situation is, and a panicked evacuation. As it is, they are aware of a number of Mahou Senshi - one might call them the local celebrities. As far as they know, however, the senshi mostly fight against common thugs and ne-er do wells. What happens to them after the fights?...nobody really puts too much thought about it, finding their minds drifting away. Even the police are under the impression that they're cleaned up by, well, 'someone else'.

❇✧ ENHAI PREPARATORY ACADEMY ✧❇

Enhai Preparatory Academy prides itself on being one of the top schools in the entire world. With students coming from all over the globe, it strives to offer them not only an education, but a community; there are groups, clubs, activities, recreation facilities, and certainly the means for students to venture out in to the city. Often, elder students will supervise the latter on excursions, though the facility is certainly available should need arise. For the most part, once students hit 15, they are allowed out on their own; they are, however, under curfew, and expected to stay out of trouble. With so many clamoring to get in to the school, the pressure is on not to do anything to risk one's position. (Even so, there are a few troublemakers; the smart ones can get away with things. The stupid don't last very long.)

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided at the school cafeteria, a short walk from the dorms. Snacks are available through most of the day, as well. And while uniforms and other basic necessities are provided free of charge, any other items are expected to be paid out of a student's stipend - an allowance, if you will, based on their grades. When students reach the age of 15, they are allowed to take on a part-time job to increase that stipend, or find other work outside of the school that is willing to employ youths.

In secret, a number of the students are actually Mahou Senshi, striving to live a normal life while balancing their fight against the Shadow. Keeping their 'other life' a secret, they rely on the aid of both their Radiant Partner and the pair of Mahou Sensei who work as teachers within the school. It's not easy, trying to finish homework when there's a Shadow attack not too far away - but certainly, you can manage it! Ganbatte!

❇✧ RADIANCE ✧❇

The collective group of beings that combat the forces of the Shadow through partnership with other living entities. Only so powerful on their own, when they combine with another entity the result is magnificent. Though they cannot hold this merger forever, it is often more than enough to deal with the outbreak of Shadow. They come in many forms, but the common sort is about one foot in size, with a specialized shapeshifting ability. In general, they seem fairly simple-minded - about the same intelligence as a young child, and a strong drive towards their goal of combating the Shadow.

In addition, through their connection with one another, they create the ET; the Essence Transfer. While generally used to keep aware of each other and their general vicinity, they are also able to shapeshift in to a communication device and allow their senshi to communicate via visual, audial, or - as a side effect of such a form - via 'text'. There may very well be other abilities to be found via this power, but so far, they are unknown.

To transform their Senshi, a Radiant Partner will seem to dissolve and become ethereal bands of colored light. The specifics of which depend on the pairing, but they wind about and around to create the new outfit (as well as subsume the original one) and, upon completion, are no longer a separate entity. They can still communicate to their partner through their hearts, a familiar voice in the back of their consciousness offering support and encouragement to their current endeavor. Especially since, upon any sort of damage, the RP is the one taking the brunt of it! Through this, a Mahou Senshi can take a great deal more damage then they otherwise would, but when too much is taken, their Radiant Partner can no longer maintain this transformation and reverse it to end up unconscious at their Senshi's feet. Note that prolonged use can also result in this state of exhaustion, though the transformation can end long before that.

Players are free to make up the specifics of their personal Radiant Partner; personality, body type/appearance/etc. They use he/she/they pronouns, depending on the individual.

❇✧ SENSEI ✧❇

One of the two experienced senshi, whom have fought in this world for years. They currently serve as teachers at Enhai Preparatory Academy. In addition to their classroom duties, they assist as counselors to students, which is useful...considering they also act as mentors and guides for the rest of the senshi new to this world. while they do go out and fight the Shadow, the recruiting of new senshi has allowed them to take a step back and reassess.

They also seek to recruit their own Senshi, to follow their own means and methods. The clear rivalry between the two lead to their Senshi being at a bit at odds with one another, though outright combat is frowned upon; there's a more important war to fight than with one another. However, things like pranks and more subtle sabotage interference isn't generally acted upon, unless it gets serious. The Sensei themselves have better things to do, and hope that others can work things out between them. They tend to only step in if things go beyond control, and threaten the fight against the Shadow or if actual lives are at stake.

❇❇Sun's Dawn Senshi❇❇ tend to be more selfless. They believe that their chosen status means they have the responsibility to protect and serve, and to reduce the impact on the world as much as necessary. The more traditional heroes of the two.
✧✧Moon's Glow Senshi✧✧ tend to be more brutal. They believe that their chosen status means they have the authority to decide whatever methods are necessary, and that the ends justify the means. The 'antiheroes' of the two.

❇✧ SHADOW ✧❇

It's difficult, at best, to explain the Shadow. Though they feed on humans, no one knows where they come from; the Radiance can only say that the two have existed as long as each other. And as for a physical description? Even that defies description; they are not necessarily physical, but no more magical or spiritual instead. They simply are, and whatever they are at the time is malleable.

Drawn to dark emotions in human hearts, senshi are able to see them as literal shadows clinging to a person. Like spiderwebs or layers of dark dust, they pile more and more until one of two things happens.

The most common is that the Shadow, having leeched all it can, separates from its host to try and find a new one. If it can't within a period of time, it'll become dangerous and destructive, manifesting as a Shadow Beast who only craves destruction. Generally, a single senshi can handle a few of these at a time, but help is always appreciated - especially for the stronger ones.

Rarer, but far more dangerous, is that the Shadow swallows its host and becomes a Shadow Fiend. The Fiend can range from as mindless as a Beast to intelligent enough to attempt to continue masquerading as a human, but this only ever lasts for so long. One way or another, it will begin to lash out, demonstrating powers and abilities that rival if not dwarf a mahou senshi's. Often, multiple fighters are needed to defeat them.

You are welcomed and encouraged to write your own combats against Shadow Beasts and Shadow Fiends. They are meant to provide a constant source of action for anyone who wants to write it. The mods will post at the beginning and middle of the month how strong activity is, but assume that unless told otherwise, you can keep fairly busy while still having enough time for your personal life. Just in mind that you are far more likely to encounter Beasts than Fiends, but Beasts can rival Fiends in strength.

❇✧ OTHER TERMS ✧❇


ET; The Essence Transfer. All members of the Radiance are connected to one another's hearts, and they may grant their senshi limited access to this network via shapeshifting in to a communication device.

Radiant Partner; The small member of the Radiance that partners with a Senshi to grant them powerful abilities - or simply unlock whatever is already in place. Though they have a small primary form, they are able to transform in to a phone-like device to allow senshi to communicate through the ET.

Senshi [common noun]; An individual who has been granted power against the Shadow via the Radiance, in return for their pledge to fight. They unlock this power through a transformation, which grants them a different appearance and, occasionally, new weaponry.

Senshi [proper noun]; One of the two senshi groups under the Sensei. They tend to act like warring high school cliques; direct confrontation is not condoned, nor is outright conflict, but they tend to be at odds with one another due to their warring ideals of how the fights should go.
