What's this all about?
Surprise, you're a Mahou Senshi now! In other words, a Magical Soldier. You've (or, rather, your character has) been pulled in to a world very much like Earth, in to the city of Enhai, Japan. You've even got a little critter that helps you transform to fight evil, once you say the trigger phrase-
"Radiant Light of Change! Transform!"
❇❇❇
Magical Youth? Magic like, sorcery'n stuff?
Not quite, though you can model yourself after it if you'd like! The game is themed more around the Japanese Magical Girl genre, with a wee little bit of American Superheroes (think X-Men Evolution) thrown in. You're young, you got
That said, the powers are wide and varied - if you'd like to have a more traditional magic theme for your character, feel free! After all, the genre was inspired by the show Bewitched. May we suggest that you specialize in flowery language to cast your spells?
❇❇❇
So what's this evil we're fighting?
The Shadow is big, bad, and ever-present. It varies in shape and form, but preys on the hearts of people - affecting their minds, clouding their judgement. This can vary from someone lashing out with a particularly explosive temper, a rabid critter on the loose, or a manifestation of a great Shadow Fiend using a human as a core.
Fear not, for when such a Shadow is defeated, the human inside is unharmed...usually. They may need a few days to recover, but they'll more or less remember it as some sort of sickness.
❇❇❇
But I changed my mind, I don't want to fight!
Well, you're stuck here either way. Maybe you should just focus on school, instead? Since you're attending Enhai Preparatory Academy whether you like it or not. They feed you, clothe you, and give you housing, so you're pretty much all set.
❇❇❇
School? I'm too old for that!
Look again, friend. If you were older than a teenager - or not human at all - you've got a brand-spankin' new form. You might be just a little too old for school, but fear not; your diploma from Enhai allows you to get pretty much whatever job you want to get, so long as you show you can actually do it. Your age may work against you, but that's about it.
❇❇❇
How does all this happen without everyone panicking?
That would be courtesy of the Radiance. Part of their magic is placing a constant air of forgetfulness over the people not recruited as senshi; they either see skirmishes as fights against thugs and brutes, or simply forget about them in a matter of hours. Even recording devices get blurred.
❇❇❇
I'm not from Earth and don't understand the culture here. Maybe I have a different kind of name, too! Do they take that for normal as well?
As Enhai is a multicultural hub city, they tend to think that weird quirks are 'cool' or 'funny' instead of extremely faux paus. Strange names are taken in stride, though you may get a nickname. But ultimately, the most you'll get is an, 'oooh!' and someone helping you adjust.
❇❇❇
Okay, so I'm a seinen. Senshi. Whatever. What does that entail?
As mentioned, you're here to fight the Shadow. You also either go to school or, rarely, work to support yourself on the side - sadly, being a full-time Mahou Senshi doesn't pay the bills. You can also affiliate yourself with one of the Mahou Sensei, for guidance and further support.
❇❇❇
Who are the Mahou Sensei?
One of the two magical soldiers native to this world. Supposedly there was once a third, but they don't talk about her, much. They both work as teachers at Enhai Preparatory Academy, and do still go out and fight the good fight. Thing is, they can't do this alone; this is where you come in. Each has formed a general group of their own Senshi, based on their own methods and morals.
Asahina Kazue teaches Music in addition to homeroom classes and she leads the Sun's Dawn Senshi. She is outwardly warm, friendly, and nurturing. In addition to teaching music classes and theory, she also helps run the school's after-school gardening club. She believes strongly that the senshi exist primarily to serve and protect the normal people around them and that they must limit excess use or abuse of their powers. If they become cold and cruel in saving the light, what's the point of defeating the Shadow?
Fukunaga Mizuki teaches History with her homeroom classes, and she leads the Moon's Glow Senshi. While curt and seemingly cold, she does have a softer, nurturing side, and cares deeply about her students and senshi. So much she's willing to use almost whatever means are necessary to defeat the Shadow. Her calm, almost brutal efficiency in combat can be off-putting to many, but as far as she's concerned, her abilities give her a responsibility to do no less.
❇❇❇❇❇❇
Okay, so I kind of understand the setting. What kind of characters can I play here?
We allow Canon and Original Characters. For Canons, we have a minimum two-week period from date of material release to pull-point. For OCs, your application must be detailed enough that we can get a grasp of their character and understand how they will play in the game.
Keep in mind that this game is designed to be relatively light-hearted and easy going. Serious villains out to take over the world may find difficulty, but if you're interested in playing such a struggle, by all means! We simply ask that you use your own best judgement in how suited your character is for the game; we may ask you to justify if we're on the fence.

How does AC work?
Our AC policy is as follows;
- Two proofs per month, which are defined as-
- One post in logs or the ET comm, with at least five responses from you to other characters
- Ten comments, collected from no more two threads.
We operate on a two-strike AC system; if you miss AC one month, you obtain one strike. A second month in a row results in removal from the game. If you believe you will be unable to make AC for the month, please reach out to the mods ASAP. These strikes reset after two months of completed AC; you cannot strike-complete-strike-complete-strike-complete.
We do make allowances for hiatus; a hiatus of one week reduces you to half AC, or one proof for the month. A hiatus of two weeks or more exempts you from AC, but you still need to post and check-in (or have someone else check in for you, with prior approval from the mods). You may only use this hiatus skip once every six months; if you need to hiatus for more than a month, please consider dropping and re-apping to the game. We also tend to frown upon hiatus for a week every month; please, use common sense.

What happens ICly when I drop or go on hiatus? Canon updates?
If you drop, your Radiance Partner was unable to cement you in this world any longer and you were sent back home. Other members of the Radiance are informed of this via their connection, and may communicate this to their partners depending on the circumstances. As far as EPA is concerned, you have been transferred to a sister campus in another city; perhaps not high as quality as EPA itself, but still well-known and well-regarded.
If you go on hiatus, your hold is being threatened; your Radiance Partner is using all its power to keep you here, but you're essentially only so 'there'. Alternatively, you may 'ghost'; your character is still active, but may as well be part of the background for the duration of your hiatus. In the case of the former, EPA believes you are on a trip; in the case of the latter, you still attend class.
If you canon update, you may choose whether it is instantaneous or takes place after a few days. Either way, your hold was threatened, and your Radiant Partner nearly lost you; as it was, they were able to secure you only after you experienced some time in your home world. Your memories of Enhai were, at the time, little more than dreams - but now that you're here again, you're back and better than ever.

At this point we do not currently have a mod Plurk. We'll be putting a little more detail in this page later today for contact, though.

- What sort of critter is this Radiant Partner dealie, and are they player controlled or baically an NPC?
- What of CRAU? Like either from another DW game or something like, say, if the character ended up in an MMO?
(Look, the idea of a Magical Dragoon girl is highly appealing to me.)

To answer your first question, the Radiant Partner can take basically any sort of cute magical girl mascot form you'd like. Any small creature, say no bigger than a small dog or a house cat is appropriate. On the other end, they can be as small as a spider or other insect in a similar size range.
Secondly, unfortunately we will not be accepting CRAU applications.

What items come with the character when they're brought to this game, if any? If they do, are those items left somewhere in their dorm, or do they just arrive with nothing?
How do they know what dorm room is theirs or where to go? Do their familiars direct them on where to go upon arrival? Do teachers help them? Will the senshi help them, or like a student-government official?
How does the character get their uniforms? Will characters have to pick them up, or can it be assumed there's a few already in the character's dorm?
Do characters get 'starter items', or are they given a list and are expected to get things from the school (I saw where there are free supplies vs. allowance requirements)?
Is there any kind of like note, acceptance letter, or care package(maps, class schedules, a few changes of clothes/basic toiletries, maybe school-issued laptop) that gives them a quick rundown of what's happening?
Does the character get a few free days to settle in and get things sorted out? Like maybe a three-day courtesy before the teachers start marking tardies/absences? Does their familiar tell them which classes to just go to for the day, and uses magic to ensure teachers don't call on them?
That is to say, in brief: what is a student's first days like? If I get accepted, I'd like to know how to play it! 8)
I assume the familiars use magic to take care of enrollment details, and teachers handwave new arrivals due to the glammor magic that shields them from beasts and fiends, is that correct? If so, how will characters get their class schedules, and how much say can a student have in selecting electives after arrival? Like. Say my character wants to go to a 'shop' class for engineering. Can I assume he got electives he dislikes, and make threads for the process of transferring?
What if my character isn't sure which senshi they want to team up with? Do I HAVE to choose, can they be undecided for a little while? Can he work on his own or will not choosing a senshi negatively impact him? Will either attempt to recruit or talk to him about it?
Can anyone else hear my character's familiar talking? Can the familiar decide when others can hear vs when others can't hear/understand them?
Can my character differentiate between regular humans and other senshi, or will they have to sort of figure it out? Like it says they're connected, but how so? Is it something they can feel or sense? Is it visible?
Also, for the familiars, are there negative impacts to prolonged, long-range separation? Like say if my character was kidnapped, or their familiar, in the shape of a communication device, got stolen. What kinds of things would happen, or could my character do?
Is it one person per dorm, or are they shared? If they are shared, are senshi only kept with other senshi?
Is it assumed arrivals start automatically speaking the native tongue of this world w no trouble, and can my character freely swap between this world language, and their own?
